In 2000 there is a doctors
strike in Israel. The death rate fell so sharply (50%) during the
strike that the Israeli funeral parlors and burial associations began
complaining. The last time the mortality rate dropped that low was 20
years previously during the time of the last doctor's strike.
One of the reasons the
Japanese live so long is that prescription drugs are "last resorts" in
Japan.
